Wild spring greens native to the western North and Central American mountains and coastlines. Grown for our catalog by Tobacco Road Farm in Northeastern, Connecticut, where they use these succulent cold-hardy greens in their salad mixes.

This plant is sometimes affectionately called Indian Lettuce by some indigenous people and often also called Miner's Lettuce by some settlers.

Planting / harvesting notes

Direct seed as early as mid-spring and into late summer. Space seeds every ½" in rows 12" apart.

Seed keeping notes

After the plant has branched, harvest the leaf pairs. Plant regrows rapidly!
